SERMON LINKS: Audio (MP3)   |   Powerpoint (PPS)   |   Outline (PDF)

Jesus changes lives. That hasn't changed in 2000 years. On Sunday we learned about nine people and nine different ways Jesus moved in their lives.

So... what next?

Here are a few suggestions for your next steps - from classes to further reading to online materials and more.

For Further Thought:
Read Colossians 4:7-18 and discuss the following.

  • What do we know about Onesimus? Which of Paul's rules, instructions, and greetings would be appropriate in preparing to receive this runaway slave from Colossae? How might the Colossians feel about him?
  • Aristarchus, Mark, Luke, and Demas were all with Paul at various times. Why would he include them in his greetings to the church?
  • In light of the influence of the false teachers, why would Paul's commendation of Epaphras be especially important? (Colossians 1:7; Colossians 4:12-13)
  • Seeing how Paul operated with a team of fellow Christians, what does this imply for you? For your small group?
  • Of the qualities used to describe these people, which one would you like others to say about you in five years? How do Colossians 2:6-7 and 3:1-2 suggest you can get moving in that direction?
  • How has your respect and love for Christ grown through this study? What from this book has helped you develop a more thankful heart?

A Prayer for the Week:
Dear Father,
Give us caring hearts when it comes to our fellow servants in Christ. May we carry the news of them to each other for the sake of building each other up. Stir us up to work hard for the kingdom of God and to encourage each other in all facets of our labor. Show us ways that we can encourage each other in our struggles and comfort each other in our sufferings.
Help us to remember each other earnestly in our prayers. Help us to stand mature and to be fully assured in your will. Help us encourage one another to carry our assigned works to completion. Help us fulfil whatever ministry we have received in the Lord. Help us to remember those who are in prison, and those who suffer in any way for your service. May your perfect grace sustain and keep all of us. In the name of Jesus I ask. Amen.
        - Praying With Paul

Memory Verse:

"This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God's wonderful grace."
Colossians 1:6 NLT

clock DON'T FORGET!! Beginning THIS SUNDAY, our service times will change (yes, we LOVE change!). We'll have two services at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.
